Social Structure of Ancient Japan!

Emperor-The emperor was the leader of Japan, he did not have anyreal power.
ImperialFamily- Oldest hereditary monarchyin the world.
Shogun-The shogun was the supreme leader over the Japan, the shogun also controlledthe military system.
Daimyos:Daimyos were the lords of the land.
Samurai-The warriors of Japan from about the 11thcentury until 1876. Samurai served their daimyo lords and lived in castletowns.
Peasants- Peasantswere considered important as they produced food that was essential. Examplesof peasants: farmers, fishermen
Craftsmen: Farmersbought a range of items from craftspeople as they could not make everythingthemselves.
Merchants-Merchants made their living from charging interest onmoney loaned to samurai and farmers.
Whatwere outcasts? The Eta which means great filth wereinvolved in leather work, burials or butchering animals. Hinin that meant nonpersons were involved in acting and scavenging.
Whatis the bushido? Bushido is the way of the samurai.The rules that prescribed the correct behaviour for all samurai.
Underthe warrior code what can the samurai do? Underthe samurai code the samurai had to show:
Loyalty
Devotion
Obedience
Duty
Respect
Self-sacrifice
Honour to death
Underthe warrior code what can’t the samurai do? Underthe samurai code if the samurai did not hold the strict samurai code: loyalty,devotion, obedience, duty, respect, self-sacrifice and honour to death thesamurai would have to kill themselves.
